Nancy Twine
Former Goldman Sachs VP Nancy Twine founded Briogeo in 2013 — the first Black-owned haircare brand carried by Sephora — and built it through to a 2022 acquisition by Wella Company.
"Clean, multi-textured haircare belongs in prestige — not in a separate aisle."
— Nancy Twine
Background
Twine spent eight years at Goldman Sachs before leaving to launch Briogeo in 2013, building on family hair-care recipes from her grandmother in West Virginia.
Briogeo became the first Black-owned hair-care brand sold at Sephora and a defining brand of the multi-textured prestige hair-care category. Wella Company acquired Briogeo in 2022.
Philosophy
Clean haircare is multi-textured by default.
Founder ownership matters: Black founders, full ownership economics.
