Annie Jackson began her career at 17 working on charter boats in the Caribbean. She returned to mainland life and was recruited to the founding team of Sephora USA in her mid-twenties — gaining front-row insight into how indie beauty brands reach consumers.

She went on to roles at Benefit Cosmetics and Sephora inside JCPenney before co-founding Credo Beauty in 2013.

Credo opened its first retail door in 2015 and has grown to 16 stores nationwide — the largest clean beauty retailer in the United States. Following the end of the Ulta partnership in March 2024, Credo has refocused on standalone stores, with 3–4 new locations planned and a fifth iteration of the Credo Clean Standard underway.

Jackson is one of the industry's most public voices on greenwashing, arguing that the solution is not more marketing polish but more radical ingredient honesty and verifiable third-party accountability.
