Marianna Hewitt
A former TV reporter turned first-generation YouTube/Instagram beauty influencer who, with co-founder Lauren Gores Ireland, launched Summer Fridays in 2018 with a single hero — the Jet Lag Mask — and turned creator-built skincare into a globally distributed Sephora category leader.

— Marianna Hewitt
Marianna Hewitt began her career as a TV news reporter before becoming one of the early generation of YouTube beauty creators in the early 2010s, building an audience that bridged makeup tutorials and lifestyle content.
In 2018 she co-founded Summer Fridays with fellow LA-based creator Lauren Gores Ireland. The brand launched with a single product — the Jet Lag Mask, a hydrating gel-cream — and used the founders' combined audience to scale rapidly without a paid-media playbook.
Summer Fridays has since expanded into a full skincare lineup, opened distribution at Sephora, MECCA, Cult Beauty, and Sephora UK among others, and is widely cited as the case study for influencer-founded brands that out-survived the influencer-brand wave. Hewitt and Gores Ireland still run the brand.
Hero product, not hero range — launch with one thing, scale only when validated.
Founders as channel — owned community as the primary growth engine, paid media secondary.
