The ingredient narratives reshaping clean beauty.

Argan Oil

aka argania spinosa · argan kernel oil

Moroccan-cooperative-sourced argan put a cosmetic ingredient on the front of supply-chain ethics conversations 15 years before 'transparent sourcing' was a category. Quiet, unsexy, and quietly indispensable — 80% unsaturated fatty acids, ~600 ppm vitamin E, and one of the highest tocopherol loads of any cosmetic oil. Briogeo and Adwoa Beauty ground haircare lines in it.

Benefits
  • high tocopherol content (natural vitamin E)
  • well-tolerated lipid mimetic for face and hair
  • ethical sourcing story is genuine, not marketing
Example uses
  • facial oils
  • hair oils and leave-ins
  • cuticle and body oils
Formulation notes

Cold-pressed unroasted argan for skincare; lightly roasted for culinary use. Look for cooperative naming (Targanine, UCFA) for sourcing verification. Stable for ~12 months unrefrigerated.

Watchouts

Counterfeit and adulterated argan is a real market — verify supplier chain. 'Argan-infused' may mean trace levels.

Clean beauty perception

Strongly trusted — the supply-chain story that aged well.
