Jun Sang Hun spent over a decade as a professional cosmetic producer and formulation researcher in Korea before launching COSRX in December 2013. His background was a production environment, not a laboratory — he developed a practitioner's sensitivity to what ingredients did at skin level rather than what they promised on a deck.
He suffered from sensitive skin himself, which made every product he worked on a daily test against his own face. The gap between what he knew was technically possible and what the market actually offered for sensitive, reactive and acne-prone skin — at a price that wasn't prohibitive — became the founding brief for COSRX.
After almost a decade of independent growth driven by Reddit discovery and earned editorial coverage, Amorepacific Group took the largest shareholder position in COSRX in November 2023, giving the brand institutional distribution muscle while preserving its minimalist identity.
Cosmetics + Rx (Prescription) = COSRX. Every product is positioned as a clinical intervention for a specific skin condition rather than a lifestyle object.
Strip the formula until the cause-and-effect is obvious. Sensitive skin doesn't need more — it needs fewer variables.

- 2023Amorepacific becomes COSRX's largest shareholder in November, valuing the brand at acquisition scale.
