Target's Discovery Experiment Is Now on the Floor
Beauty Studio has moved from a May watch item to a confirmed rollout across more than 600 stores and online. Conversion is now the question.
Target announced Beauty Studio for more than 600 stores and online, with 90 brands, launching on 10 September. September founder interviews identify SARELLY and Buff Beauty among the participating brands. This materially advances the earlier watch item; it does not create a second rollout event.
A retailer can create discovery space, but a brand still has to make a first encounter understandable. Packaging, assortment, staff explanation and replenishment become part of the product experience. Founder audience size may help awareness; it does not demonstrate that an unfamiliar shopper will buy again.
SARELLY offers a lens on designing around a community's rituals and unmet needs. Buff Beauty offers a lens on introducing a new routine inside a familiar category. Follow assortment changes, availability, repeat orders and the amount of explanation each proposition requires. The retailer verifies the rollout and founders; unit economics, sell-through, repeat purchase and incremental traffic remain undisclosed.
