4AM's $4M Seed and 1,745-Door Target Launch Is a Formulation Argument Dressed as a Convenience Product

4AM raised an oversubscribed $4M+ seed led by CAVU and launched in 1,745 Target stores on May 10. The product is a serum-quality facial wipe — the structural bet is that the format, not the formulation tier, has been the problem.

4AM, founded by Sabrina Sade (Georgetown MD) and Jade Beguelin (Wall Street derivatives trader), closed its seed round on May 10, 2026. CAVU Consumer Partners led — the same firm that backed poppi before the functional beverage category matured, and Necessaire before body care premiumisation was a standard retail narrative.

The angel list is a formulation credibility stack: Youth to the People's Joe Cloyes, Violet Grey's Cassandra Grey, Starface's Brian Bordainick, dermatologists Dr. Muneeb Shah (18M TikTok followers) and Dr. Joyce Park (1M+ Instagram).

The product, Clean Sheets, is individually packaged wipes saturated with a micellar base containing centella asiatica, calendula, B5, and glycerin. It was developed with a sheet mask manufacturer rather than a conventional wipe producer — a sourcing decision that explains the formulation quality differential. 4AM did not benchmark the product against competing wipes. They benchmarked it against premium skincare.

The category logic: facial wipes are a top-five repurchased item in mass beauty. They have not materially evolved. Dermatologists advise against them — not because the format is wrong but because every incumbent's formulation is. CAVU's pattern recognition applies: a large stagnant category, a formulation that competes against premium products, a founder-to-consumer distribution model (Beguelin has 150K TikTok followers, Sade has 80K Instagram). One year of 4x revenue growth and four sold-out production runs preceded the Target rollout. The Target launch is the scale test.
