Thiamidol

A 2026 vehicle-controlled human trial makes the endpoint gap more informative than generic brightening language: investigator scoring improved while patient assessment and digital colour analysis did not significantly differ.

Benefits
  • evidence of improvement on a studied hyperpigmentation score versus vehicle
Example uses
  • targeted pigmentation skincare
Clinical evidence · Moderate

In a randomised, double-blind vehicle-controlled trial, 200 enrolled and 196 completed 12 weeks. Investigator-scored mMASI improved more than vehicle, while patient global assessment and digital colour analysis did not significantly differ. Beiersdorf supplied samples and funding; a co-author was an employee.

Formulation notes
The trial used 0.2% Thiamidol. This is a study condition, not a universal formulation instruction.
Watchouts
Endpoint-specific benefit, a 12-week horizon, commercial funding and limited applicability to other pigmented lesions. Do not translate this into removal of all dark spots.
