Malassezin

A January 2026 split-face human study offers encouraging pigment-focused evidence, while Mother Science gives the molecule a broader consumer route. This dossier is new to the library; the study and retail expansion are earlier events.

Benefits
  • early human evidence for improvement in uneven pigmentation under studied conditions
Example uses
  • pigment-focused facial skincare
Clinical evidence · Emerging

Randomised, double-blind split-face study in 20 adult women over 12 weeks; both sides improved from baseline, with no statistically significant between-treatment difference. The small study does not establish equivalence.

Formulation notes
The study tested 0.75% malassezin against 4% hydroquinone over 12 weeks. That concentration is study-specific, not a universal use recommendation.
Watchouts
Twenty adults with mild-to-moderate melasma is a small cohort. No significant between-treatment difference does not prove equivalence, superiority, universal safety or performance across formulas.
Clean beauty perception

Emerging — promising human evidence with formula, rights and replication questions still open.
